UNIVERSAL MAGNETIC POSITIONING FIXTURE FOR JOMINY AND OTHER HARDNESS TESTING
The Model R Universal Magnetic Positioning Fixture for Jominy and Other Hardness Testing can be used with the Preferred, Optional or type L Specimens for the Jominy end quench test.
The fixture can be easily attached to the elevating screw of the Rockwell hardness tester and accurately positioned by means of a knurled nut. The specimen is mounted and held securely
on ground surfaces of two powerful ALnico magnets. The magnets are accurately positioned and securely held in a non-ferrous sliding carriage. The carriage is advanced along a precision
slide by means of a screw. A ball detent indicates each revolution of the screw which equals 1/16 inch of movement. A precision scale is mounted on the slide to indicate the exact position of the specimen.
The fixture allow readings to be taken up to 1-3/4 inches from the quenched end of the specimen. All parts are machined from solid materials and surfaces anodized or plated where necessary.
The operation of this unit will be found to be simple, rapid and convenient. Reliable and accuarate data can be easily secured with this fixture.
Suitable flat specimens can be placed on the flat part of the ground surfaces of the Alnico magnets permitting spaced hardness readings to be made at desired points along the specimen. A magnetic anvil plate can be furnished to hold flat specimens which cannot be supported directly on the faces of the magnets.
We can furnish special attachments to further extend the use of this versatile fixture.

THE MODEL Ex 2 - .5 EXTENSOMETER
The Model Ex 2 - .5 Extensometer is a highly developed instrument combining many desirable features with reasonable cost. The most outstanding feature is that the dial gage unwinds as the
specimen elongates. Consequently, a sudden elongation or an extension beyond the dial gage capacity has no bad effect on the accurate over the full range of movement. (Compare this feature w
ith most strain instruments). No auxiliary equipment or tools are required. The instrument clamps on at the correct gage length. The dial has a 1 1/2" face and is easily read.
The instrument can be modified for larger diameter specimens, and special grips for holding flat specimens.
